ARC Raiders Live Update 1.42.0 Annotated
TL;DR
Live Update 1.42.0's real changes for Raiders, Snitch can now call in a Rocketeer or a Firefly/Hornet duo, boss stomp attacks no longer hit through walls, the Photoelectric Cloak now works against Turbine and Matriarch attacks, and Map Conditions now schedule per region.
Draft: this page has not cleared review and is not indexed.
Live Update 1.42.0 shipped August 21, 2026 with a full "Content and Bug Fixes" section: real gameplay, map and stability changes, not just a cosmetic-shop rotation. This page skips the anti-cheat PSA and the Rubber Duck Design Contest results (both real parts of the post, neither one changes how you play) and annotates what actually moves the needle. Annotated by section below.
The Snitch got more dangerous
From the official patch notes: the Snitch can now call in a Rocketeer, and separately can call in a Firefly and Hornet duo. Snitch Scanners are unaffected by this change.
A Snitch alert used to mean "expect a Rocketeer or nothing much." Now it can escalate to two enemies at once. Treat every active Snitch as a reason to disengage or reposition rather than push through, especially with a Firefly/Hornet pair, the combination punishes standing still far more than either enemy alone.
Boss and defense fixes
From the official patch notes: stomp attacks from the Queen and the Matriarch no longer sometimes hit through walls or from much farther away than intended.
If you were breaking line of sight behind cover during a Queen or Matriarch fight and still getting stomped, that was the bug, not bad positioning. Cover should now actually protect you from the stomp.
From the official patch notes: the Photoelectric Cloak now works against Turbine lightning attacks and Matriarch missiles. Added spawn protection to the Surge Coil Trap so it no longer affects players as they spawn in.
Two small but real defensive buffs: the Cloak is now a legitimate answer to two attacks it previously didn't counter, and you won't eat your own Surge Coil Trap on spawn anymore.
Regional Map Condition scheduling
From the official patch notes: Map Conditions now offset their schedule per region instead of running on one single global schedule, timed to match each region's peak hours.
If you play outside the game's original core time zones, you were likelier to miss Map Conditions entirely under the old global schedule. This is aimed squarely at that. Check the in-game Map Condition tracker rather than assuming the old global timing still applies.
New Player Project: Phantom Targets Part 2
From the official patch notes: part two of the Phantom Targets event ships with this update alongside the Anomalia Outfit, and the Tick Hunter Set becomes available.
If you were partway through Phantom Targets Part 1, this is your continuation. Check your Projects tab rather than assuming it's a fresh, unrelated event.
